The ThinkPad P1 is ripe – It's one of the best performing thin and light laptops on the market. Thanks for watching!

Can't wait to get something like this used in a few years when my T440p dies out / ceases to be modern enough
would you recommend this one for 3d modeling work? or the p53
this is for programmers
After hearing Dave's recommendation, i got this p1 laptop and swopped the existing nvme drive for the Adata SX8200 pro and raided it. Performance was awesome BUT it crashes majority of the time, i have no idea why. Is it due to the fact that lenovo doesn't support Adata drives or something?
Even clean installs also crashes it…
Hope anyone can help me T_T
you can switch ctrl and function keys in bios. I do it every new thinkpad i get.
Hi Dave such a great review! What do you think about this for music production? It's quite CPU heavy and not as GPU heavy so I'm assuming it should be ok?
Please don't you the word (jounra)
In the BIOS you can switch the FN and Controle keys
No ethernet port?
I still can’t get past the fact that the Microsoft Surface and the Dell XPS have no HDMI port. That is an absolute travesty. Lenovo remains the GOAT laptop. Heck, even my $500 IdeaPad has a fricking HDMI port. Definitely gonna eventually buy a ThinkPad
hi dave!!
Control (Ctrl) and Fn can be swapped in Bios
Doest his have privacy screen guard?
I looked at the new 16" Macbook Pro's today, they all very hot at the top of the keyboard near the screen. So hot, it was like a stove, you can boil eggs on it!
Cant tell if you're 26 or 57
I have been using the X1 version of this laptop for a whole entire year, and looking back at this review, Dave Lee got everything spot on about it, lol (like ofc i can't say about the quadro performace and those stuff, but you get the point). So great
For $1050 I got MX 250 (2GB) ,i5 8265u (8th GEN ) , 8 GB ram (upgradable to 32 gigs ), 512GB SSD , Integrated Graphics (Intel) – 6GB.
I use Windows But love Mac also a lot .
So…. A kurzgesagt fan i see.
I deleted Lenovo welcome software and it bricked my Lenovo. You cant system restore, you cant 'Vantage restore'. Lenovo somebody needs to shit on your face.
I want to cry… I bougth this laptop with The FHD panel 500 nits, insted of the 4k… Does anyone can tell me if this panel is good for photo editing?
Totally agree with you about the FN key. You are the only reviewer who mentions it. Problem continues on the Gen 2.
I really HATE the placement of the Fn key. I keep hitting it when I am trying to press the CONTROL-Key. So annoying.
Also, because the function key pushes my hands to the right, I keep pressing the RIGHT mouse click on the trackpad when I meant to press the LEFT mouseclick. Just remove the FN key and shift everything back left.
Go look at any other vendor's laptop. Far left is the Control key, and to its right is the Fn key.
But no, some idiot at Lenovo decides to switch it around…
Thanks to Bobbie for the tip about swapping the FN and CTRL key in BIOS.
It makes a HUGE difference for me.
Just show the benchmarks for professional workload. Not everyone is gonna do video editing and gaming. Some might just use it for school, some might use it for work.
The problem with these tech youtuber is that they don't know the real work workflow. They just say video editing and gaming. For fuck sake.
This guy is very cool man
Thinking of this or the Lenovo T490 w an i7, 32GB RAM and the 2GB video card. Dont think the size will make a difference for me from 14 to 15.6. Appreciate the video. I think the T490 might be it
"The only thing I don't like is the fn/ctrl keys".. Dude this is exclusively made for ThinkPad users. ThinkPad users are basically thinkers…😁😁. Not the wacky..wacky Gamers.. we create things.. the wackys spend money.. we need to extract money from those wackys.. Intelletuals need things at the right place.. so keep the fn/ctrl keys at the same place.. those snobs don't like it, there are a host of useless but impressive, attractive laptops available in the market
So let Lenovo ThinkPad keep the same at the same place… You don't advice them..
It's cost only $620 in Cambodia. I bought it yesterday.
Lenovo p1 has almost matching specs to p53 ( i7, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD ) and costs 40% less. Is it advisable to buy p1 over p53, home use but need a lot of vms ?
Is it heavy duty and a good choice for grapgic designs and editing videos?
Apple. This is what "Pro" actually means.
New to the challenge and it's the best one I've found. Am not sure what to buy and would like to know your guys opinion. thinkpad p1 gen 2 15':
-Intel® Core™ i7-9750H (2.60GHz, up to 4.50GHz with Turbo Boost, 6 Cores, 12MB Cache)
-16GB DDR4 2666MHz
-256GB Solid State Drive PCIe-NVME OPAL2.0 M.2
-NVIDIA Quadro T1000 4GB
El macbook pro 13' :
-1.7GHz quad‑core 8th‑generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 4.5GHz
-16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 memory

Tip you can swap the Control and function key in the BOIS
Such a professional laptop, I can surely flex with the “Thinkpad” for sure
Please! Review the Lenovo Thinkpad T490!
